Journey With Us
The Imperial Cities:

Budapest, Vienna, Prague & Regensburg, Hungary, Austria, Czech Republic & Germany

October 15-25, 2012

Exciting. Thriving. Vibrant. Resilient. Once the jewels of the Habsburg's (Hapsburg's) Austro-Hungarian Empire, Budapest, Vienna & Prague celebrate in unique fashion their culture and cuisine, artistic history, music, distinctive architecture, and the romance of their rivers.

Budapest's cities of Buda and Pest sit on opposite banks of the Danube River. Having endured centuries of wars, revolution, and decay under Soviet rule, it has a resurrected majesty and streets named after poets and composers such as Liszt. Hungary's Magyar soul welcomes visitors with its vital spirit and beauty.

Strauss Waltzes, Coffeehouses, Schubert, Freud, Biedermeier, Klimt, Mahler, Maria Theresa, Mayerling, young Mozart, Sacher Torte - these are just a few of the countless images of Vienna, a city of intellectual, sensual, and architectural beauty with its many monuments, museums, and palaces.

Located on the Vltava River (commonly known as the Moldau), the exquisite beauty that is Prague, capital of Bohemia, is a fairy-tale city untouched by the ravages of war for several hundred years with a wonderful Old Town watched over by a storybook castle. It is known as the "Golden City" and "City of a Hundred Spires." Dvorak, Smetana, Mucha, Kafka, Vaclav Havel are only a few of the artists, writers, composers that have made Prague a city of eclectic creative energy and beauty.

Regensburg, once an ancient Roman settlement on the Danube River and an influential medieval trading center, is a UNESCO site because its buildings are original - not destroyed by Allied bombing in WW II. It offers a quiet and charming respite from "big city activity." You'll enjoy its Historic Sausage Tavern as much as its 12th c. Stone Bridge. And, cruising down the Danube to the little wine-growing area at Bach is refreshment for the spirit.
